Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment

Arthritis is a condition characterized by joint inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease that leads to inflamed and stiff joints. It is the joint that holds together two bones. The joints contain soft tissues and cartilages that help to hold the bones together and materialize smooth movement. Rheumatoid arthritis results when the white blood cells in the immune system destroy the good cells in the body instead of foreign body. Gradually, the affected cells release fluids that damage the tissues and cells in the joints. In acute stages, some organs like the spleen and liver also gets affected. The rheumatoid-infected person can suffer from fever, low blood count, weight loss, dry eyes and mouth, and of course inflammation at joints and other parts of the body. As time passes, the movement of the joints becomes simply painful.

Though the exact cause of the disease has not yet been traced, the common symptoms are inflammation, stiffness, and swollen joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that cannot be completely cured; it can only be kept under control by reducing pain and inflammation and slowing the bone damage. Hence, treatment for rheumatoid arthritis concentrates on helping a patient to cope and to live with the disease.

Normally, the recommended treatment involves encouraging physical activities. The person suffering from rheumatoid arthritis has to exercise his or her joints to avoid complete stiffening and disability. Also, one needs to take proper rest to reduce the inflammation of joints. In some cases, the individual uses devices called splints to reduce pain and to carry out daily activities independently. For instance, with the use of splint, one can rise from bed or get up from a chair without taking help from another person.

The doctors can administer various drugs or medicines such as analgesics or anti-rheumatic drugs. These help to reduce pain and control inflammation of joints. In very severe or extreme cases, surgery is recommended, provided the patient can pay the cost. This helps to replace the damaged part with an artificial “body-friendly” metal or plastic. For instance, in surface hip-replacement surgery, the whole socket of the hip is replaced with a metal hip. Similarly, there is tendon-replacement surgery to replace a damaged tendon or a tissue connecting muscle to bone. One of the surgeries practiced less frequently is the removal of synovial tissues that cases the bones in the joint.

Rheumatoid arthritis cannot be prevented nor cured. The only solution is to live with the disease and undergo routine check-ups, exercise, and follow a nutritious diet.

Choosing a Property Manager for a Vacation Rental Home

So you are the proud owner of a vacation home - congratulations. But just as with your own home, a vacation home needs a lot of tender loving care. Who is going to look after it when you are away? And, perhaps, how is it going to pay its own way? Thoughts like these tend to push vacation home owners into thinking about appointing a property management company. So what should you be looking for in a property manager, and how do you go about finding one with the qualities you want?

First and foremost, you have to decide if you just want the property taken care of, or if you also want it rented out. This will determine what kind of property management firm you want, and whether you need to check their credentials for marketing your firm, or just for looking after it. Assuming that you would like your home to generate some income for you, you need to look for several key capabilities

• A firm which will ensure the highest standards of care and attention to the fabric and contents of your property. Lots of rental income will not make up for the damage caused by careless renters. Make sure that your chosen firm will keep on top of every
• Personal check-in and check-out of every rental. Many firms take advantage of the availability of keyless coded locks to allow renters to check themselves in and out. This means that they never know who is in your property, and whether your four-bedroom home which is supposed to have a maximum of 8 guests actually has 16 grad party celebrants all over the floors
• The highest standards of cleaning. Cleaning a property thoroughly is time-consuming and expensive. Many property management firms cut corners here, and if they do, you will eventually pay the price in worn-out carpets and other forms of dilapidation.
• Superior marketing capabilities. Marketing vacation rental properties has become a sophisticated business these days. Make sure that the primary website on which your property will appear is ranked highly against the most popular keywords for your location. A local firm without much experience in search engine optimization may be able to take good care of your property but they won’t generate a lot of income since no-one will know that they exist.
• Great service for guests. Look for a manager who knows how to offer excellent service to guests: arrival baskets of food and drink, pre-booking of activities, restaurant reservations etc. If guests feel they are well looked-after, they will be more inclined to come again, but also feel more of an obligation to take good care of the property they are in.
• Great service to you. You should expect VIP treatment when you are using your own property, but also VIP service when you call up your property manager to enquire about availability, discuss renovation and maintenance issues, query your income statements or any other matter. Make sure you will always get to speak to someone senior who knows you and your property.

Have a look at this page: Whistler property management for a company which looks as if they know what they are doing. But make sure you talk to them in detail and go over the management contract with a fine tooth comb before you sign on the dotted line. You should expect to pay 35-50% of gross rental income to the management company; if they charge less you might want to be suspicious of what they are offering; if more, they’re probably too expensive. This may sound a lot, but remember that they are looking after your property for no fixed outlay to you, and they only make money when you do as well.

Good luck with your search.

Business - Cash Flow & Surviving the 1st Year.

Copyright 2006 business-cards.com

You’ve dreamt of it, you planned it, nursed it and dragged it screaming to the grand opening day - your business that is. Are you exhausted, and well and truly ready for a rest?

Better not be. It’s a sobering fact indeed but over 70% of registered businesses fail before their first anniversary of trading, (Australian Bureau of Statistics Annual Report 2004). And why does this happen?

In the majority of cases, 66%, its problems with cash flow.

Cash flow, or rather the lack of it, seems to be the clear number one enemy of a fledgling business. Firstly what is cash flow? Well simply put - let’s say you make widgets for sale.

To prepare, there was machinery, a place to put it and some staff to help you operate it. There was insurance to pay, licences to buy, electricity to be put on, and a phone to take all those orders … and lots more too you can be assured!

Now you’re making your widgets, you had to buy the raw materials, and dispose of the waste. You marketed them, and spent lots of time answering customer’s questions. Packaging had to be designed and manufactured, and transport had to be organised to get those widgets delivered.

And hey - it’s been three months of hard work, but now you see you’ve sold over 1000 widgets. That’s well ahead of the business plan and all good news … isn’t it?

Add up ALL the money you’ve spent to date. Now have a look at the income you’ve received. It’s likely that the only revenue you’ve received is for the first few widgets you sold way back in January. At the same time, all your cash has been spent making those first 1000 widgets. So where’s the income? Has there been a robbery?

No, it’s the hard cold cash flow devil throwing its weight around. To explain: A large customer ordered 20 widgets from you on the 5th of January. You delivered them on the 7th of January. You sent an invoice for the delivery. On the 4th of February you sent your customer a statement with the invoice listed. In the meantime the customer has ordered a further 20 widgets which you supply in good time. Several other customers also order, and are supplied on similar terms.

It’s March now and you call the first customer to check on the progress of your January invoice. The accounts payable lady is very helpful and explains that their terms with you are 60 days. She says to look out for the check in mid April. Nothing untoward, just normal practice.

The penny drops, your income stream will be delayed by at least 80 days! A few nasty bills come in and all of a sudden, you’re out of business, unable to pay wages or buy materials.

That’s cash flow. A final thought. ‘A force that can work against you, can alternatively work for you’.

Property in Italy is steeped in history, art and culture, this area of the world is and has always been home to a good many indigenous civilizations. Around 30 years back you’d find just a small number of UK citizens looking for land in Italy. Ask everyone who has chosen to move to Italy and they will be certain to confirm this. Quite a few people would insist on labeling it a craze and others insist on labeling it a virtually an addiction. People who move here generally range from young working couples keen on a bit of a new life perspective to pensioners who are looking to enjoy themselves and unwind.

Note, though, that you might encounter some hitches when attempting to buy land abroad — there’s 100s of different, often not very intuitive, actions be it when working out a plan, sightseeing or signing up. Even if one minor step is missed it will easily escalate great hitches not to forget, more importantly, a financial trouncing. Obviously and expectably with this well-liked region, land may well be dear in this place which is, of course, naturally a consequence of the high market demand. However, the patron is definitely spoiled in a location so great in terms of ripping land. It patently has all, stock and barrel, anyone might feasibly wish for, etc.

Bad Breath - Is It A Problem

High populations of us have the dreaded morning breath, and this simply cannot be helped. This is usually caused from having a dry mouth for such a long period of time. Daily smells on your breath can be contributed from foods, drink and smoking, and sometimes medication can be a cause. Anything that dries out your mouth will cause some degree of bad breath as the dry mouth area is the perfect breeding area for the bacteria that causes bad breath.

Everyday there are adverts informing us to take mints of regularly have mouth washes. It is commonly known that these products actually help cause bad breath, so they are really doing no favors for you at all.

Bad breath is formed by high concentrations of bacteria in the mouth, and the bacteria lives and breeds underneath the tongue’s surface and on the tonsils at the back of the throat. Unfortunately it is not just sat on the surface where it can be simply washed off by mouth wash or mints. Most mouth washes contain alcohol, which is a great addition in helping to dry out your mouth, which in turn leads to bad breath.

As we all know foods such as garlic and onions are great for bad breath, but we all eat more and more, because we like them. The bacteria that causes bad breath is present in everyone’s mouth as it is needed to help break down the proteins in numerous types of food we eat. What we have to do is not allow that bacteria to breed to much otherwise it will work to our disadvantage and provide us with bad breath.

If bad breath is a major concern to you then there are a few precautions you can take to help eliminate the smell. Brushing your teeth several times a day, and especially after meals can do the trick. Cutting out certain spicy foods, as that is a great contributor to bad breath. Don’t smoke and cut your weekly alcohol intake down considerably. Investing in good tooth paste that neutralizes the sulphur compounds and has anti bacterial properties to help reduce the risk of bad breath. Always have regular visits to the dentist.

Chinese Jump Rope

Imagine having a great time playing with just a simple piece of elastic string! Chinese Jump Rope is a jumping game popular around the world!

Chinese Jump Rope found me as a child and once again, through my profession as a physical educator. The game is funny like that, popping up from generation to generation, verbally passed from one to another like a folk tale.

Chinese Jump Rope is a challenging game played by anyone anywhere.

The simple rules test the skill and coordination of all players. An elastic rope is the only equipment needed for play. The game is easily learned and always fun! Chinese children first played Chinese Jump Rope in the 7th century. Rediscovered by English children in the 1960’s, Chinese Jump Rope remains as popular as ever.

Chinese Jump Rope is no ordinary “rope skipping” game. “Enders” hold an elastic rope while a “jumper” jumps the rope in special ways. The challenge? To jump successfully!

RULES

A Jumper jumps until a jumping mistake or “miss” is made.

-A miss can be made if a jumper jumps “out” instead of “in”.

-A miss is also made if a jumper touches the rope incorrectly while jumping the game.

After a miss, the jumper trades positions with an ender.

The jumper starts from the very beginning of the game on the next turn.

Every Chinese Jump Rope game begins with the rope held in basic position.

Enders:

1. Face each other and step inside the rope.

2. Place the rope around the ankles.

3. Step back until the rope is stretched.

Two parallel jumping lines, about 12 inches (30cm)apart, are stretched between the enders.

The jumper stands outside the rope, ready to play.

Simple words describe simple CJR jumping steps!

“IN”

Jump both feet inside the rope.

“ON”

Jump both feet on top of the rope. The left foot lands on the left rope; the right foot lands on the right foot.

“OUT”

Jump both feet from the middle to the outside of the rope. Feet land together on one side.

“SIDE OUT”

Jump over both ropes from one side. Both feet land together on the other side of the rope.

“STRADDLE OUT”

Jump a straddle! The left foot lands outside the left side of the rope. The right foot lands outside the right side of the rope.

“SIDE-BY-SIDE”

Jump quickly side-to-side. Both feet start “out” one side of the ropes.

-Jump side: The left foot lands outside the left rope. The right foot lands inside the rope.

-Jump side again quickly: The left foot lands inside the rope. The right foot lands outside the right rope.

Jumpers call the steps out loud while jumping. Calling helps the jumper remember the “pattern” of the jumps!

Practice “jumping steps” with these simple jumping games!

JUMP 1: IN.. OUT.. SIDE-BY-SIDE.. ON.. IN.. OUT

JUMP 2: IN.. STRADDLE OUT.. SIDE-BY-SIDE.. IN.. OUT.. SIDE OUT

JUMP 3: SIDE OUT.. SIDE OUT.. ON.. SIDE OUT.. SIDE OUT.. ON .. SIDE OUT

JUMP 4: SIDE-BY-SIDE.. IN.. STRADDLE OUT.. IN.. ON.. SIDE OUT

No enders around to hold the rope? Draw two parallel chalk lines on a play surface (sidewalk, concrete, pavement).

Happy jumping!

Gourmet Sauces, Rubs and Marinades - Give Your BBQ a Gourmet Kick

Many individuals agree that the sauce on barbecued meat is like the icing on a cake. Gourmet barbecue sauces, rubs and marinades are commonly served on (or on the side of) the finished dish. Barbecue sauces are used to add flavor and sweeten the meat for a better tasting meal. The types of barbecue sauces available throughout the world are endless. Barbecue sauces, rubs and marinades are the three basic methods of seasoning and each brings its own unique element into the barbecuing experience.

Barbecue Sauces

Many individuals and families swear by barbecue sauce and some find it impossible to prepare meat without it. Popular types of BBQ sauce depend highly on the region, since many different areas have an opinion all their own. Barbecue sauces can are usually based with vinegar, pepper, tomato or mustard and can offer either a sweet or spicy taste to the dish. Some barbecue sauces also use alcohol such as bourbon or zinfandel to add flavor. Most BBQ sauces use a sweetener such as white sugar, brown sugar, molasses or maple syrup to add sweetness to the dish. Sugar burns easily and as a result, it is best to add the barbecue sauces during the last stage of grilling.

Barbecue Rubs

Barbecue rubs are available in two forms, wet and dry. A dry rub is often a combination of dry spices and herbs which are spread over the meat and rubbed into the surface. Wet rubs are simply dry rubs with a liquid (usually oil) which binds them together. When cooking for longer periods of time, wet rubs provide moisture to the meat so the meat does not become burnt or tough. Wet rubs are usually used on dishes such as fish or poultry since they do not have as much taste, whereas dry rubs are better suited for steak and pork. Most rubs contain paprika, black pepper, ground chili and garlic powder.

Marinades

Marinades are seasonings which contain acidic ingredients such as vinegar, wine and citrus juice and are used to tenderize the meat. Marinades can be a combination of herbs, spices and vegetables and are used to add flavor to the dish. When you soak the meat into the marinade, the meat absorbs the ingredients and the result is a more flavorful and tender dish. The meat must soak in the marinade for a good part of the day or even overnight to ensure it has enough time to absorb its maximum capacity. Make sure you read the directions prior to marinating because some foods (like shrimp and fish) can become mushy and soggy if they are left in too long.

Regardless of which form of seasoning you choose, rubs, sauces and marinades add flavor and tenderness to all forms of meat. So give your BBQ a gourmet kick and add a gourmet BBQ sauce, rub or marinade to your next barbecue.
