New Handbag Designs from Gucci

Well, it’s that time of the year again. All of the big design houses are releasing their new designs to the hungry masses, and Gucci is no exception. Unless you have been stranded on a desert isle for the last thirty years, you have undoubtedly heard of Gucci. They have been reigning over the fashion world for a great many years, and not totally without warrant. Gucci makes top quality, stylish apparel and accessories for the distinguishing shopper.

Guccio Gucci founded this fashion empire in Florence, Italy in 1906. Originally, their core business was the production of leather products, particularly saddlery. By 1938, the House of Gucci had grown into a reputable company producing a wide variety of products, and they opened their first retail shop on the Via Condotti in Rome.

Gucci’s new line of handbags for the Fall/Winter 2005/2006 season is yet another spectacular addition to their fine line of designer accessories. My particular favorite from this collection is called “Braided Straps”. It is constructed from the beautiful patterned material Gucci has become so well known for, and is beige, ebony, and white in color. The trim and straps are crafted from fine white leather, and you guess it……the straps are braided! I am utterly in love with this bag.

I have also taken a liking to the “Bardot” model. It is a stunning beauty much like its namesake, Brigitte Bardot. This purse is crafted from warm, supple, dark brown leather with a wonderful pattern embossed into it. The metal clasp is very slick, and appears to be very durable. It comes with an 8 inch shoulder belt, and the trademark Gucci logo is stamped into all of the polished metal hardware.

It is always so difficult for a young lady to choose the perfect purse. We seem to collect them the way boys collect comic books. I have given up on trying to curb my desire for new handbags, and Gucci bags are truly the ones I love most! I quite literally lust after their purses. I love being the envy of ladies everywhere as I strut down the block with my Gucci handbags, pretending that I am a supermodel on the runway. Only Gucci has that effect on me!

About Natural Mineral Makeup

As a cosmetologist, I wanted to share some of my findings/experience with you concerning natural mineral makeup.

Natural mineral makeup has been around a few years, but it seems the average person either hasn’t tried them, and many have never heard about them. Basically, they are various minerals crushed to a very fine powder and used as cosmetics. They are in a powdered type form.

The main properties of mineral makeup are gentleness, long lasting, pure, and many have almost a healing type of action to various skin conditions. Of course you will have to experiment to find which brands are your favorites.

Personally, I am hypothyroid which means I have super dry skin, alligator skin. Doesn’t matter what type of skin care products, etc. I use, I have flaky skin. All my life, no matter what makeup I used, it would be completely absorbed (thus disappearing) after about only 2-3 hours of wearing it. I was also very nervous about mineral makeup because with having super dry skin I avoid powders of all kinds, plus I was worried about it making the flakiness look even worse. I was SO stunned when I first started using mineral makeup on my own skin. The first thing I noticed was after 12 hours of wear, it was still there! No makeup has done that in my entire life. The other thing I noticed was it did not look flakey at all, but very fresh and light. Another benefit of mineral makeup is truly it feels like you are not wearing any cosmetics.

I also have the challenge now of rosacea (extreme redness due to intense facial flushing). I have found the brand Aromaleigh to be the best on my skin. It seems to be one of the gentlest of mineral cosmetics as far as foundations are concerned. They also carry a wonderful corrective color of green that you can use under the foundation. Green cancels red, which is why it works on rosacea skin to cover the redness, yet be very gentle at the same time. I tend to prefer Bare Esenctuals however for their blush & eyeshadow colors, they are very beautiful and perform so well.

Whatever brand you go for, here are a few tips for using it. 1. Usually less is better. They are very concentrated, so a little goes a long way. It’s common to use way too much at first. You can always add another light layer on top if you go too light at first. 2. Invest in some good quality brushes. They make all the difference in the world, be sure to gently wash them regularly. 3. If after using small amounts, with good quality brushes, things still don’t look right, or you’re not thrilled, next look at the possibility that you’re simply using the wrong shade. Sometimes it takes experimenting to find what shade is best for your skin. I found with Bare Esentuals, I wore a significantly darker foundation than I ever thought possible, yet it was the perfect shade for me. 4. Be sure to moisturize your skin preferably about a half an hour before applying mineral makeup. 5. Apply all your makeup except mascara & lipstick. Spritz a fine mist of water on your face, then finish your mascara and lipstick. I find this “sets” the makeup and gives a very fresh, young looking appearance. 6. Play with the colors and applications. You can use blush colors as eyeshadow. You can also brush on your lips, then apply some gloss over top. 7. The eyeshadows will tend to look shockingly stark when you first apply them. Don’t worry too much about that. After you apply the shadow, take a clean eyeshadow applicator and use it to blend and soften the colors. They will soften right down to the perfect hue in most cases.

Ebay many times have great deals on trying different samplers of different brands and colors. You can have a blast trying. Many different companies also sell small samples very reasonably priced to try as well. Remember, a little goes a long way. Have fun trying this wonderful category of makeup.

Is Your Bra Hazardous To Your Health?

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer found in women, and this year alone 192,000 new cases will be diagnosed in the U.S. It eventually strikes one out of every eight American women. Breast cancer also causes more deaths than any other form of cancer in women under age 55.

As women, we all fear breast cancer. It is the one disease that sends chills down our spines and puts a knot in our stomachs. I am not about to go over all the reasons why women get breast cancer or who is or isn’t a high risk factor. I will leave that subject to those who are far more qualified than I, however, there is one factor that affects your breast health and that is the fit of your bra.

Right now, as you read this, 80% of all the women in America are wearing the wrong size bra. Most of them are uncomfortable and most of them are too small. Your breast is all about circulation and the flow of lymph. If you want healthy breasts, follow a regular care program, including a monthly self exam, routine visits with your doctor, and a mammogram when recommended for your age and family history, Most importantly, wear a bra that fits you.

A tight, binding, constricting, and ill fitting bra is bad for you and can cause major discomfort as well as retarding the circulation in and around your breast. So what can you do to change that? Find a bra that fits you perfectly.

This process is very simple but requires the help of an “expert”. When I was growing up in Brooklyn, New York, my mother use to call them the “brassier ladies”. They were mostly European born and had worked in corset shops in Europe as fitters or seamstresses. This noble group of women worked in neighborhood lingerie shops. You never bought a bra without their expertise.

They had such a trained eye that the minute any woman walked in the door they knew what size she was. They would take one look and say, “34C”. It was like radar, they just knew from afar, and when they measured you, they were almost always right.

Today there is a more modern version of these women called lingerie fitters. They are in local shops (if your town is lucky to have one), or work in major department stores in the lingerie department. So your first step to finding the right bra is to go see one of these gals. They will take your measurements, first under your rib cage and all around your back and then across your breast. One tells what your bra size is (34, 36, 38 etc.) and the other tells your cup size (A, B, C, D etc.) Now that you know this they will usually recommend a style for your body type based on your needs. During your session, tell this person all about your basic wardrobe. Are you looking for a bra to wear under a tee shirt or a knit, one for sports or the gym, or a special occasion look? Or do you need to establish a basic bra wardrobe?

Believe me, one hour spent with one of these experts will not only save you money in the long run (by avoiding having a drawer full of ill-fitting bras you can no longer wear), but you will be saved the daily agonies of wearing bras that hurt, are too tight, dig into your shoulders or are just plain torture!

Once you have established your size and needs, then follow these simple suggestions for a long and comfy relationship with your bras.

HOW TO PUT ON A BRA

Bend forward, put the bra on, and fasten.

Look at the fit and make sure that the cup holds all of your breast. If you are spilling out, it is too small. If you have “overhang” it is too small.

Next, take your right hand and smooth the skin of the left breast into the cup. Do the same on the other side.

Stand up straight and see how the straps fit and feel. They should be comfortable without feeling like a vice. Adjust as needed until perfect.

Now, look straight ahead into a mirror and make certain that each nipple is in the CENTER of each cup.

Adjust the back of the bra so it lies smoothly between your shoulder blades.

Take a deep breathe, how does it feel?

A word about brand names. Not every manufacturer cuts the same way, that is true of bras as well as clothes. You might be a size 34C in one brand but a 34D in another. And there may be some brands you can’t wear at all.

BRA DO’s & DON’TS -

Do get measured again every time you lose or gain weight, after a pregnancy, or if you are on hormone replacement therapy.

Don’t ever buy a bar without trying it on and stay away from the sale rack.
Unless there is a brand and style there that you wear, pulling one off the rack because it is marked down is no bargain. Chances are it will have a long and happy life in your lingerie drawer.

Do buy an under wire style if you are full breasted and need firmer support.

Do buy a minimizer if you want to have a large breast appear smaller.

Do try one of the new soft cup bras that offer construction for a smaller breast. (Soft cup means sans under wire.)

Do throw away any and all bras that hurt you or are uncomfortable, no matter how much you paid for them.

Important points to remember
Ask a salesperson to measure you but let your eye and your body be the ultimate test. A bra shouldn’t ride up, dig into your back, or slip off your shoulders.

When trying on a bra in a store, take several, in various sizes, into the fitting room. The difference between a 34 and 36 might be one hook.

For the best fit, your bra should be fastened with the middle hook.

Reevaluate your bra wardrobe at the beginning of every season.

If you find a bra that you love, by all means buy more than one.

Never put a bra in the dryer.

Should Boomers Age Gracefully? No Way!

Andrew Weil, MD, an influential advocate of alternative/integrative medicine has decided to “age gracefully.” (Los Angeles Times, December 5, 2005, “Aging with grace, naturally.”)

Age gracefully? He has to be kidding!

From my 76-year-old perspective, Weil, at 63, is a youngster who has made an untimely decision to become a poster boy for acceptance of early decline. Unfortunately, countless people will follow his example.

It’s difficult to be at odds with Dr. Weil. His advocacy of healthy living is without peer. His recognition of the role of inflammation in the disease process is light years ahead of traditional medicine. He has earned the respect and acclaim he enjoys.

Dr. Weil’s decision to succumb to graceful aging appears to be his belief that it’s not possible to reverse the aging process. It can’t be, and everyone knows that. But what everyone should know, and should be encouraged to know, is that the aging process can be managed and controlled, enabling those in their 70s and 80s to do what they were able to do 25 years earlier. It’s aging deliberately, defiantly, and with passion.

The term “aging gracefully” means different things to different people. One thing is certain: it does not suggest toughness.

To me, aging gracefully means letting go, just letting life happen. It suggests giving up goals, dreams, productivity, and challenge. It’s placidly waiting for death. A hallmark of graceful aging is a subtle but rapid and relentless onset of typical signs of “oldness.”

Many people accept aging gracefully as part of the human experience. After all, we are born to die, regardless of how well we live. We take vitamins, eat right, exercise, and then we die anyway. So it makes sense to enjoy life as much as possible.

Youth is a gift. In later years, having youthful characteristics such as mental and physical strength, flexibility, and independence takes effort. It means ignoring what tradition or custom has set as a standard for a given stage of life. It’s daring to be different. It’s putting a treadmill next to an inviting recliner in front of a TV and choosing to walk for an hour instead of sitting. It’s about deliberately opting to make the older years fun, rewarding, and even amazing.

Many residents of nursing homes have chosen, or allowed themselves to age gracefully. Perhaps they would not be where they are if they had made different lifestyle choices early on. According to gerontologist John W. Rowe, MD, 70 percent of the aging process is controllable with wise lifestyle choices. That’s an enormous amount of personal power to wield over the outcome of your life. Why give it up for wimpy graceful aging?

Dr. Weil has made a decision to forfeit a large part of his aging power, but you don’t have to. You DO have choices. You CAN manage your aging process. Learn how to extend, maintain and control the best of your Boomer years well into the future. Start now!

Caregivers Need Vacations: Guilt Can Be Reduced

Caring for a chronically ill loved one can be one of life’s greatest challenges, and when trying to schedule vacation time with the rest of the family, caregivers can often feel guilty for trying to carry on and have a normal life. Additionally, fond memories of past vacations, when the loved one was still healthy, can create a downward spiral with feelings of loss and sadness.

More than fifty million people, one in every five Americans, help loved ones who can no longer help themselves. But when caring for another, a caregiver often neglects their own well-being, oftentimes not even seeing themself as a caregiver, but simply as a loving family member–doing what needs to be done.

STEPS CAREGIVERS CAN TAKE TO REDUCE STRESS AND ENJOY VACATIONS

* Take Care of You: You can’t be an effective caregiver if you are so stressed that you get sick and have to cancel a vacation. As hard as it is to find the time and motivation, realize that it’s imperative that you nurture yourself.

-Eat healthy: set limits on high fat and processed foods, caffeine, and too many sugar-laden treats that can increase fatigue.

-Exercise often: take a walk, stretch, lift weights, do isometrics.

-Get proper sleep: take naps when necessary.

-Meditate: practice deep breathing and visualize happy times.

-Attend a support group regularly: solutions will present themselves.

-Do things you enjoy: read, music, hobbies, crafts, movies, etc.

-Use a hand sanitizer: viral and bacterial infections can be reduced.

-Treat depression: find a therapist and consider taking an anti-depressant.

-Get yearly physicals and appropriate tests: cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, mammogram, prostate, colonoscopy, etc.

* Plan Ahead, Organize, Pace Yourself: Give yourself plenty of time to plan a vacation, but be careful not to take on more than you can manage. Make lists of things that must be done before the trip, and secondary lists of things you would like to accomplish if possible. Be sure to set strict limits with yourself and others of what you can and cannot do.

* Ask For Help: Don’t wait for others to ask what they can do to help. Instead, ask everyone to pick the tasks from your list that they feel comfortable with. In addition to the list of caregiving and household chores, include vacation-planning tasks such as:

-Take the car in for service/cleaning/tire rotation

-Get maps/brochures of vacation destinations

-Make itineraries/check availabilities

-Get reservations/tickets

-Stock up on groceries/cook meals ahead for the freezer

-Refill medications, stock up on supplies

-Call agencies and interview caregivers for respite care

-Make a schedule with details of all duties for the caregiver(s)
-Organize back-up help

-Distribute an emergency plan with contact information to everyone

* Be Positive: Having a vacation to look forward to will help you feel less deprived of a normal life. Be aware that having fun, laughing, and focusing on pleasurable things, rather than ill health, will help to keep you in emotional balance. The break will recharge your batteries.

* Use Adult Day Care: Enrolling elderly loved ones in Adult Day Care is often the very best thing for them. They’ll be busy enjoying activities like singing, crafts, cooking, gardening and bingo with professionals who know how to motivate and manage them, helping them focus less on your absence.

* Seek Professional Help to Cope: Numerous resources are available to help caregivers. Consider hiring a Geriatric Care Manager, who can personally guide you through the complicated maze of eldercare. Also, many faith-based organizations offer support to family caregivers.

-Area Agency on Aging or Department of Aging

-Family Caregiver Support Program (800) 422-3263

-Eldercare Locator (800) 677-1116

-Alzheimer’s Association (800) 272-3900

-National Family Caregivers Association (800) 896-3650

-National Adult Day Services Association (212) 494-0755

* Shift Perspective: Resolve to stay in the present, savor the good moments, and guard against focusing on the decline of your loved one. Imagine yourself in their position, needing a caregiver to do things for you all of the time. Now ask yourself what you’d want for your loved ones who’d be taking care of you? Would you want them to be continually sad, depressed, burdened, isolated, and not living up to their potential, following their dreams or even taking a vacation–because of you?

Of course not.

Realize that your happiness is what your loved one wants most for you (even if it doesn’t seem like it), and that you do them honor by living a balanced and fulfilled life, which includes enjoying vacations.

Surviving the Holidays

The holiday season can wreak havoc on any woman, but those
of us with health concerns need to be extra careful this
time of year. With holiday parties, offices full of junk
food, traditional foods and well-meaning friends and family
pressuring us to let our diets go for the holidays. Don’t
forget the emotional stress of gifts, parties and family
gatherings. As cold weather hits our bodies often crave more
calories and more carbohydrates. Shorter days can lead to
more munching to maintain energy levels and brighten moods.
Add in the scheduling crunch so many of us experience this
time of year and this time of year can be hard on your
health.

Here are some pointers that can help you survive the season
without losing the battle:

* Plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of healthy foods
on hand. Slip carrot sticks, protein bars, nuts, cheese or
other healthy choices into your purse before you leave the
house. Carrying good snacks with you can help you withstand
the urge to binge on mall foods while shopping or giving in
to the candy that seems to sprout in every office this time
of year.

* Choose wisely when you snack. Gravitate towards the veggie
trays and nut dishes rather than the cookies. Choose a
splash of cranberry juice in water, lemon in water, or a
diet soda instead of sugary drinks. One good chocolate,
savored, can curb your desire to binge on other sweets.
Chocolate is also absorbed more slowly than simpler carbs
because it has more fat in it.

* Plan your indulgences. If you MUST have Aunt Sydney’s
latkes or Grandma’s eggnog then plan for it. Don’t blow your
eating plan on lesser treats. Hold out for the good stuff. A
few indulgences can help you stave off a binge.

* Say no! Not every invitation or request must be accepted.
You have a right to a sane and happy holiday season. If that
means graciously turning down an invitation or saying no to
a volunteer opportunity, then that is what you need to do.
Your health MUST come first or you are no good to anyone
else.

* Stick to your healthy habits as much as possible. Schedule
in time to meditate, exercise, or attend a yoga class. When
you are happy and healthy you will do much more to spread
the holiday spirit than you ever could if you were crabby
and exhausted.

The UK Financial Minister Reveals Latest Recovery Strategy, Is This Going To Help The United Kingdom Currency

The Prime Minister of Great Britain has publically announced very last recovery plan to support the stability of the banks, and to increase confidence and capacity to lend. The scheme includes an insurance scheme to save banks from next future debts. The banks covered have to pay for the cover, in cash. While this technique means the daily cost of life will go down, deflation will help saving which could reduce Great Britain’s economic recovery. Foreign Currency Direct can help you seek out the best exchange rates.

UK property assets continued to decrease at a record rate, with the market leader, Halifax, saying, more than 16 % yearly fall in the 3 months to December 2008. Property prices have already fallen twenty per cent from 2007 and further falls are possible as consents for home mortgages are at its lowest record, as reported by bank data.

The number of people claiming jobless benefit increased past 1 million in in 2008, climbing at a fast rate since 1990 The crisis has led to thousands of job losses in lot of different markets, with some forecasts of more than three million unemployed by the end of 2010. Some shops have gone bankrupt in the last weeks. Shops have also been slashing prices to to be able to cover the full amount of bills.

The financial policy plans of the British government are mainly focused on fixing the financial crisis and do nothing for the currency. As a consequence the pound will most likely going to suffer. We will see the sterling going up however forecasts for the British currency is negative.

Rumours amongst analysts says that very likely the Monetary Committee will slice borrowing costs to 1.25 % from today’s 2 points, dragging the interest rate to its lowest since the seventeen century.

This means a lower return for the city investors who then invest abroad, thus causing a decline in the value of Sterling.

Some policymakers have said the central bank may eventually have to cut the rates to zero and resort the only solution, basically printing more money to buoy the recession. This seems to go well with the government plan of attempting to spend their way out of the credit crunch problem, not exactly what most Western countries attitude, which is a possible reason for the massive decline in Pound against to the and US Dollar.
