A Bit of Advice re Sydney Botox Clinics
Botulinum therapy (abbreviated to B.tox) is swiftly becoming established amongst Sydney’s fashionable crowd and has become a beauty routine necessity for a lot of people in the city.
But I am always dumbfounded by the ludicrous tales about the procedure.
I have included below some of the errors frequently heard at Star Cosmetic Medicine located in Pyrmont, Sydney.

Misconception # 1: B.tox will freeze my facial muscles!
Below the skin of the face are 60 or so muscles. The continual use of these muscles over time may result in the formation of expression lines. The overuse of B.tox may result in the forehead appearing less taut. More often than not doctors use relatively small quantities to result in you seeming refreshed, but still you will always keep your normal expression.
Thus by employing a carefully calculated quantity of the B.tox in just the right tissues you should get a reduction in any fine lines without compromising facial expression.
Misconception # 2: B.tox is poisonous!
Actually there is a little truth in this statement. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the correct scientific terminology. Too large a quantity can end up in loss of muscle tone or can even make you really ill.
But to put everything into perspective: an old pharmacist’s saying states that ‘everything is poisonous - it all depends on the dose’. Every medicinal drug in a big enough quantity can make you ill. Water can be a poison if you drink too much.
Misconception # 3: B.tox hurts!
The hypodermic needles used at Star Cosmetic Medicine have a diameter smaller than a human hair. A lot of people say that the shots are not as sore as a mosquito bite. For Certain not painful compared to getting a regular shot.
Misconception # 4: B.tox will numb the feeling in my face!
False. B.tox affects the neuromuscular junction, not the nerves of sensation. Just the ability to relax muscles is impacted by B.tox.
Misconception # 5. You need to keep getting B.tox or else the lines and wrinkles become more noticable!
Again this is simply untrue.
You can expect the first treatment to last for up to 3 months. Any further treatments after the initial consultation should be effective for a few weeks more. The wrinkles will gradually return as the muscle returns to normal. However they will certainly be no more noticeable than before.
Even if you never had B.tox shots again - any wrinkles should be less noticeable than if you had not been treated. This is primarily the case because your facial muscles and skin have had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ during the treatment.
