Total health insurance reform can no longer wait . Fast growing health plan costs are crushing business, individual, family, and government budgets . Employer-funded medical insurance plans have doubled in the last nine years, a ratethree times faster than composite wage raises . This forces individuals to gather around the kitchen table and make difficult decisions between paying their rent or paying health premiums . Given all that we spend on medical care , we should not be presented with that choice . The U.S. expended just about $2.4 trillion on health costs in 2007 , or $6,872 per citizen - nearly twice the average of other developed countries . Is it possible to reform the country’s medical care system before the cost becomes prohibitive?
