3D Tv’s

To hi tech how 3D TV technology works, one must find out how our eyes work. Our eyes are several centimeters apart from each other and therefore receive the input image from different positions. Our brain uses that information and is smart enough to mesh the two seperate images into one single view, creating depth, and making what we see 3 dimensional or 3D.

3D TV sets work in somewhat theewhat the way, one way or another they transmit two unique images to your eyes in a very precise way that it knows your brain will alter the incoming image into 3D after processing it.

Tricking the brain like this is no easy task, and for for some time now the simple and cheap technology was to wear colored glasses that had a large drawback of limiting the number of colors that you could enjoy a movie in.

Today, bigger TV manufactures such as Sony have improved on the process that with shutter glasses the full spectrum of colors can be enjoyed. Panasonic is one of the manufactures that has manufactured an auto stereoscope system that will make it possibleke it possible make 3D viewing possible without the need of uncomfortable glasses at all.

All in all, the 3D TV industry is still in its first phase, but many leading companies are investing seriously into it in hopes that it will be the next big phenomenon. If movies such as Avatar are anything to go by, the chances of success are pretty extreme. Now it is up to the industry to improve technology and make it less of a burden, reduce prices, and generate enough content through 3D games, 3D movies, 3D episodes of popular series, and 3D TV channels.

Iron Man Two Looks Set for Big Release

At the San Diego Comic Con recently, the first footage from Iron Man 2 was shown by director Jon Favreau, and as expected, it blew minds. The big thing shown that had the majority of people buzzing, was the unveiling of the fan-favorite War Machine the identity that James Rhodes (Terrence Howard in Iron Man, Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2) takes on with his own high-tech Iron Man-esq suit. While speaking to MTV recently, Mr. Cheadle explained that some conflict may arise between the two friends, which leads everyone to wonder: will Iron Man and War Machine clash in the sequel?

The conflict arises as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a tad…eccentric, to say the least, and he’s his own man with his own agenda; while Rhodes is used to taking orders. As the Comic Con footage revealed, there is a point where we’re shown that the government is out to claim the Iron Man suit technology, and eventually butt heads with Stark this could in fact lead to a high-tech superpower showdown. Sounds like a good time!

Here’s what Don Cheadle had to say about his “significant” part in Iron Man 2:
What’s interesting is that there are so many different iterations of War Machine and Tony Stark from all the different comics. It was really trying to find the common thread, the through-line… [And] the through-line really is their friendship. They’re actually really good friends.

We kept asking ourselves: How does that play out with Tony Stark being an independent contractor doing what he wants to do, and Rhodes actually being in the military. There’s a real chain of command he has to follow. What’s the conflict that creates?

As I’ve said before: I’m not exactly familiar with the Iron Man mythology, so I have zero idea if these two ever throw down, but I have to imagine it’s pretty faithful.

Iron Man 2 will be released on May 7, 2010 and also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, and Scarlett Johansson. The iron man cartoon is also due for release soon.

Uverse Service

My wife and I have tested out ATTs Uverse for about a month. Even though ATT makes a huge deal about the amount of HD channels it makes available, I am like the greater number of tv watchers who not only do not have a high definition TV, but also still use picture-tube-style analog sets.

We only hooked up U-verse to the tv in our family room. But the companies bundles will let you connect up to 3 and more if you are ready to pay more. The DVR hooks up to one TV, but the others can retrieve recorded shows off it.

I got the U400 plan, which gets you about 270 non-HD channels and starts at $99 a month. ATT has packed deals that mix U-verse and internet, but do not start getting worked up at the idea of unbelievably fst Web surfing. The internet access offered with Uverse is largely the same as ATT’s dsl package, though uploads are improved.

ATT installations take 2 to 4 hours, depending on if your house should be modified to accommodate U-verse. In my case, technicians had to change the wiring in the back of some of the phone jacks. Because I have been using analog, I’d not yet attempted a Video on Demand program, which U-verse includes. This gives you the option to choose from both movies and tv episodes from a selection of the premiere networks, including Starz, and play them on your Television like a DVD player.

LA Confidential (DVD) Review

Winner of two Academy Awards, and nominated for seven others, LA Confidential was the surprise thriller of 1997. Prior to American Beauty and Gladiator, Kevin Spacey and Russell Crowe starred in this seedy crime and suspense film - one of the best of the decade. Set against the backdrop of 1950’s Hollywood and the celebrity culture of that era (quite indistinguishable from the celebrity culture of this era), LA Confidential projects a LA police department filled with corruption and a town obsessed with acquiring fame, money, and celebrity at any cost.

When members of imprisoned mob boss Mickey Cohen’s gang start showing up dead, it’s up to three cops on the LA police force to get to the bottom of the mystery. Their superior, Capt. Dudley Smith (James Cromwell) convinces wiseguys from other parts of the country to go home. It seems that someone is moving in on Cohen’s underworld territory, but who? The police are led to the home of wealthy developer Pierce Patchett (David Strathairn), who runs a prostitution ring of Hollywood look-alikes.

The investigative task falls to three cops, each of whom goes about his business in a different way. Deputy Lt. Edmund Exley (Guy Pearce) is a by-the-book officer, following in the footsteps of his dead father - a former cop himself who was mysteriously murdered. Officer Wendell ‘Bud’ White (Russell Crowe) is a vigilante agent of law enforcement who believes in personally exacting justice and punishing those who fail to subscribe to his own perceived morality. As the son of a wife-beater, White has zero tolerance for abusers of any type. And rounding out the three is Sgt. Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey), a self-absorbed cop in search of Hollywood celebrity (he consults for TV shows on the side) and money. In the end, these three men of differing realities must come together if they hope to uncover the truth surrounding these mysterious killings.

In the meantime, the conflict between the three men and Capt. Smith heats up. Each must wage a personal battle against the fraternity culture of the police force, the bureaucratic machine, and the rampant corruption that infests every corridor of city hall. Along the way, Bud White strikes up a relationship (as does Exley) with one of the prostitutes from the investigation, Lynn Bracken (Kim Basinger), which complicates the investigation and compromises his judgment. But when a break in the case takes place, Exley and White put their differences aside and work together to solve the case…

With a surprise ending that’s one of the best of the decade, LA Confidential is a cinematic masterpiece. Wrought with symbolism, and sporting a well-written screenplay, the film captured critical acclaim as well as box office success. Highly entertaining, and dripping with suspense, LA Confidential more than qualifies for its designation as a must-see film. If you haven’t seen it, then don’t wait another minute longer…
